The EAST Machine

    EAST is a full superconducting tokamak with shaped poloidal cross-section. The designed parameters are: R=1.7~1.9m, a=0.4~0.45m, Bt=3.5T at 1.7m, Ip = 1MA with SN/DN and limiter configuration. Up to now, the following configurations have been produced and stably controlled: double null configuration with elongation kappa=1.9 and triangularity delta=0.50; top or bottom single null configurations with kappa=1.7 and delta=0.64, plasma current up to 1.0MA, toroidal field 1.6~3T. Routine plasma current is 0.25~0.8MA for normal experimental operation.
